Sudan – History, Present and Perspectives


Dear friends of freedom of thought, in the Arab World and elsewhere,

Sudan is a country many of us here in Germany know very little about. Especially after recent developments of the popular uprising in demand of democratic structures, people are curious to learn more: about the country, the history providing the context to the current revolution, and what a future might look like.
Does the uprising have a chance to turn into a successful change of government with civilian structures?

These are some of the questions Eiman Seifeldin will look into in her Ibn Rushd Lecture on

Sudan – History, Present, and Perspectives

on Wednesday May 15 at 19h in Helle Panke.

Eiman Seifeldin

is an environmental scientist and lecturer who has until recently worked at the University in Sudan. For ten years, she has also been a human rights activist. She is presently based in the German city of Hannover.

The Lecture will be held in English, questions and contributions to the discussion after the lecture are also possible in Arabic and German, we will translate as best as we can.
